After months of speculations about the purported plans by former EFCC chairman, Nuhu Ribadu to decamp from the All Progressives Congress (APC), LEADERSHIP SUNDAY can now authoritatively report that the former anti-corruption czar had finally dumped the APC and picked the membership card of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A source close to the Adamawa born politician confirmed to our reporter that Ribadu has picked the membership card of the PDP
Asked as to where he registered, the source said, “All I can confirm to you is that Malam Nuhu has indeed registered as a member of the PDP”
The PDP leadership led by the party’s national chairman, Adamu Muazu, have since the impeachment of former Adamawa governor, Murtala Nyako, mounted pressure on Ribadu to join the party and be its candidate for the October 11 governorship election in Adamawa.
Ribadu contested the presidential election candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2011 and until his defection today considered one of the presidential prospects of the APC in the 2015 presidential election.
Ridabu is believed to be anointed candidate to fly the PDP ticket in the race to succeed Murtala Nyako as elected governor of Adamawa State.
However, some PDP stalwarts in the state have kicked against reported pressure on Ribadu to defect to PDP to pick the party’s ticket.
Meanwhile, Kano state Governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso yesterday advised former presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Malam Nuhu Ribadu not to decamp to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to avoid committing political suicide.
Kwankwaso who spoke to reporters in his office yesterday said that he was yet to confirm whether Malam Ribadu was interested in the alleged offer by the PDP of a gubernatorial ticket in the event that he decamp to the party, adding that if Ribadu leaves the APC, his political career would be bleak.
