GOV DICKSON DIRECTS IMMEDIATE PAYMENT OF BURSARY BAYELSA UNDERGRADUATES
Governor Seriake Dickson has directed the Bayelsa State Scholarships Board to urgently conclude the ongoing biometrics exercise for undergraduates of Bayelsa origin in tertiary institutions across the Country.
He has also directed the Secretary to the Board to commence the payment of the bursaries to the undergraduates from next week.
Giving the directive to the board in a Government House statement, Governor Dickson expressed concern over the long delay in the payment of the bursaries and urged the board to take urgent steps to fast-track the process.
While, commending the students for their patience, he urged the scholarship board to ensure that, all genuine Bayelsa Students are paid, as it will go a long way in alleviating their plights.
The Governor equally enjoined the board to put a more effective and efficient mechanism in place to ensure that, future bursary payments do not suffer similar delays.
The Bayelsa State Chief Executive used the opportunity to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to the education sub sector, as it remains the key to the human capacity development agenda of the government.
