By Osa Okhomina: Nov 16, 2014;
Bayelsa State governor, Hon Seriake Dickson, yesterday, warned political office holders and elected officers from the state against utterances capable of presenting the home state of President Goodluck Jonathan as divided and working against his re-election in 2015.
Governor Dickson, in a statement issued yesterday by his chief press secetary, Mr Daniel Iworiso-Markson,warned that any wrong statement may be capitalised upon by the opposition to portray the state as divided.
It was in reaction to the reported verbal challenge by the speaker of the state assembly, Hon Kombowei Benson, against the political influence of President Jonathan in the state
The report quoted the speaker, who is also a close ally of the governor, to have cautioned the president against interfering in the choice of senatorial candidates for the party in the state.
But in the statement,Governor Dickson said: “The state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a peaceful, united and focused family under the leadership of the president and the governor who are working together for the good of the state and the nation”.
The governor pointed out that the PDP in Bayelsa State is working collectively and rallying the needed support for President Goodluck Jonathan and the party to achieve maximum success in next year’s elections.
