The Bayelsa State Tourism Development Agency has announced the postponement of this year’s Bayelsa International Jazz festival, which was scheduled to hold between the 12th and 13th of December, 2014.
The Jazz festival will now hold in March, 2015.
Announcing the postponement, the Director-General of the Bayelsa State Tourism Development Agency, Mrs. Ebizi Brown, explained that, the decision was neccesitated by the series of political activities, including the primaries of the various parties, preceeding next year’s general elections in the country.
According to her, the shift in date will among other things also allow for strategic publicity mileage for potential partners and sponsors, as well as accommodate more artistes, who have indicated their willingness to participate in the event.
The Tourism DG regretted the inconveniences the postponement might have caused corporate and technical partners of the festival, artistes, jazz enthusiasts from across the globe and the public, who had continued to show greater interest in the success of the event.
She however, expressed the hope that, the shift in date will enable the agency to perfect on some of its plans intended to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the international audience expected to grace the occasion.
