Lokpobiri lied over comment on Bayelsa West senatorial primary – Bayelsa PDP
The People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), Bayelsa State has described asfalsehood, the claim by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Water Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri that, the State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, Chief Returning Officer and others left the auditorium of the administrative block of the Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro College of Education, the venue of the last Sunday senate primary midway, alleging that it was inconclusive.
Lokpobiri had in a media reports in some national dailies entitled; How I won PDP Bayelsa senatorial primary-Lokpobiri’ submitted, ‘ After I insisted that the accreditation was supposed to be ongoing at that time, there was pandemonium, the Governor left and others, including the person purportedly collating the results scampered out of the venue.
There is no iota of truth in the report, as the governor, delegates, INEC representatives and members of the press remained at the venue after Lokpobiri’s attempt to disrupt the declaration of the result had failed.
The governor did not leave the venue as claimed by Lokpobiri until the declaration of the result by the Chief Returning Officer, Mr. Offorji Oboku and the emergence of Evangelist Foster Ogola as the winner with 69 votes.
For the avoidance of doubt, as captured by the video cameras of the various media houses that covered the event, two out of the five contenders in attendance; Chief Ayakeme Whiskey and Dr. Mrs Stella Dorgu in their separate speeches okayed the outcome of the primaries.
Also, Lokpobiri is being economical with the truth in the report that he arrived the venue of the primary at 11am. The video clips evidence showed that, he arrived the venue after the conclusion of election process at 12:47pm and headed straight for the high table in an attempt to snatch election result sheet.
He did not come to the auditorium with his supporters as claimed in the report. Clad in a jeans attire, he came in with security aides, went straight for the high table and screamed and slammed the table, stop it, what nonsense are you doing here and afterward left the venue after shaking hands with some of the contestants. All of these were captured on video.
Sadly, it was also observed that, majority of Lokpobiri’s supporters, who later accompanied him to organize the parallel primary are loyalists of former Bayelsa State Governor and now APC chieftain, Timipre Sylva.
So, it is clearly a case of someone, cooking up a story to misinform the public, the leadership and members of our great party into achieving his selfish intentions.
For the umpteenth time, we wish to place on record, as captured on video that, the senatorial primary for Bayelsa west was concluded, even as he, (Lokpobiri) made attempts to disrupt the process.
