GOV DICKSON CONDOLES WITH FAMILIES OF BAYELSA FEMALE POLITICIANS IN ILL-FATED AUTO CRASH, ASSURE THEM OF GOVT’S SUPPORT
Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson has commiserated with the Secretary to State Government, Prof. Edmund Alison-Oguru over the death of his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Oguru, following a fatal auto crash at Elele, along the East-West road.
Condoling Prof. Oguru and his family at his residence at the Commissioners’ Quarters, Opolo, Governor Dickson described the incident as a tragic one, which claimed the lives of female politicians in the state.
The Governor, who said the news of the untimely death of the women came to him as a rude shock, described the incident as a painful and terrible blow to the state, noting that, the government and the people of state have joined the family in mourning the passing on of Mrs. Oguru and other families affected by the tragic incident. He urged the bereaved families to take heart, stressing that the entire state mourns with them in their moment of grief as a 3-day mourning period has already been announced and prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. Governor Dickson also pledged government’s support to the families of the accident victims and prayed for the repose of the departed souls.
Responding on behalf of the Oguru family and Ogbia Kingdom, the Executive Secretary of the Bayelsa State Capital City Development Authority, CCDA, Chief Ige Iboro Idaba, expressed gratitude to Governor Dickson for his words of encouragement and for identifying with them in their moment of sadness. Chief Idaba said, they would take solace in the fact that, everyone has an assignment on earth, after which they would return to their creator, adding that, Mrs. Oguru has concluded hers and now in the bosom of the Lord.
Wife of the Governor, Dr. Rachel, Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (Rtd), Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Konbowei Benson, members of the legislature and the State Executive Council as well as Chairmen of Local Government Councils and other top government functionaries accompanied Governor Dickson on the visit.
