The Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, has congratulated Muhammadu Buhari and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on their successful inauguration as President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Governor Dickson in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, wished the new President and his second in command, success in piloting the affairs of the country in the next four years.
The Bayelsa State Governor also assured the President of the support and active collaboration of the Government and people of the State in the interest of the Nation.
The Governor’s statement reads: “The Government of Bayelsa State wishes President Muhammadu Buhari and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo a successful tenure as President and Vice President of our great nation, Nigeria. As a government, we appreciate the fact that, only a man with a firm vision and love for his country could undertake such a long journey, notwithstanding the rigours of preceding unsuccessful attempts. Your doggedness and uncompromising posture of always standing for what is right, just, equitable and fair, will no doubt, serve as key drivers in your administration’s quest to deliver on the various lofty electoral promises that would be to the benefit of Nigeria as a nation. It is against this backdrop that, we wish both you and your able vice, good health, vigour and the wisdom to pilot the affairs of the nation in the next four years.
“In the same vein, we also join millions of Nigerians and the international community in commending and applauding the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan for a smooth transition and leaving behind a legacy that guarantees the sustenance of our democracy as well as the stability of the nation”.
The statement further added that, the state government would work closely with the Buhari administration as well as would rally the needed support to ensure that, our people remain committed to the unity, stability and prosperity of Nigeria at all times.
Governor Dickson expressed the hope that, going by the time tested antecedents of President Buhari, he would build on what his predecessors achieved in terms of promoting peaceful coexistence and even development of an indivisible and united country.
The statement notes that, the Government and people of the State are encouraged by the president’s pronouncement at his inauguration, when he remarked that, he belonged to everybody and belonged to nobody, describing it as an indication that, he would be fair to all sections of the country.
