CHRISTIAN LEADERS OFFER PRAYERS, PASS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON GOV DICKSON, AS GOV INTERACTS WITH CLERICS………ATTRIBUTES ACHIEVEMENTS IN VARIOUS SECTORS TO GOD
The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Bayelsa State Chapter has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Henry Seriake Dickson, desribing him as a God fearing leader, who means well for the people.
Speaking during an interactive session with the Governor at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Yenagoa, State Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Rev. Israel Ege expressed satisfaction with the achievements of the Governor virtually every sector of the State’s economy, including the building the ecumenical centre for christians in the State as well as the massive infrastructural development across the State.

The CAN Chairman, however appealed to the State Chief Executive to allocate land to his members to build to build Churches as well as the sponsorship to holy pilgrimage in Israel, which he pointed out, has been pending for the past 2years.
In his remarks, the Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson attributed, the successes recorded by the Government in the various sectors of the economy to the decision he took at the inception of the administration to lay the foundation of the government on Christ.
Governor Seriake Dickson, who stated this during an interactive session with Christian leaders in the state at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Yenagoa, explained that, the numerous infrastructural developments across the state and the relative peace could not have been possible, without God’s divine interference.
He thanked Christian leaders in the state for their genuine support and prayers, particularly for joining the government in its daily morning devotions and the state monthly praise nights at the Government House, in Yenagoa.
Governor Dickson recalled some of the achievements of his administration to include, the dualisation of the Isaac Boro Expressway/AIT road, the Toru-Ebeni/Ogobiri bridge, the restoration flyover in the state capital, the Ogbia/Nembe road, the Etegwe/Tombia section of the Yenagoa/Amassoma road.
Others are the new secretariat annexes, the Diagnostic centre, the twenty four constituency secondary/8 model schools, Yenagoa/Oporoma road, Sagbama/Ekeremor/Agge road, adding that, all these projects have been made manifest by God, despite the dwindling federal allocation to the State.
Governor Dickson, who called on the body of Christ to continually pray and intercede on behalf of the government to succeed, noted that, the period calls for prayers, as the Ijaw nation is under attack, particularly at this time of politicking.
He pointed out that, those who do not mean well for the state should not be allowed to ascend to the seat of leadership in the state, stressing that, the state needs a leader, who has the vision for the development of the state.
“Leadership is of God, for God is interested in leadership, and I expect the will of God to prevail, as leaders of the Church, you should pray for and counsel the government.
“Government is building institutions and stabilising the polity, as partners, the Church should pray against the spirit of blackmail and treachery, because the enemy is at work to take over the state”.
Governor Dickson disclosed that, the state government has established the Izon-Ebe Microfinance Bank in all the 8 local government areas of the state, with a provision of N100m for the Church to partner the government in its empowerment scheme to reduce poverty among its members the state.
In his welcome address, the SpecialAdviser to the Governor on Religious Matters, Pastor Samuel John-Peters admonished Christians to take active part in determining who becomes a leader in the state, stressing that, the Church needs to support and maintain the achievements already recorded by the present administration.
A brief exhortation, Pastor Emmanuel Amaeze, the state Pastor in charge of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, who spoke on the theme “Fear of God”, enjoined Christians to have the fear of God, as that is the only way they can have the guidance and protection of God.
