The Bayelsa State Government has applauded the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase and the police high command for the decision to deploy a special mobile squad to compliment its officers, men and other security agencies in the State for the forthcoming governorship elections in the State.
Reacting to reports that, the IGP had directed the deployment of a special squad to Bayelsa and Kogi, the Bayelsa State Government described the decision of the Inspector General of Police as timely, stressing that, it would go a long way in stemming the current wave of mayhem and brigandage being orchestrated by by cultists, loyal to the All Progressive Congress, APC in the State.
According to the statement made available to newsmen by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Boma Spero-Jack, the Government will do everything humanly possible to support every effort geared towards ensuring a free, fair and peaceful election on the 5th of December.
The statement also called all registered voters in the State to take advantage of the security deployment and turn out enmasse to cast their votes.
“We want to commend the IGP for this very singular and timely action and we are fully in support and also hoping that, they will come and perform the assignment transparently and with utmost discipline and strict adherence to laid down rules”
“Bayelsans should not allow themselves to be intimidated, as the present wave of kidnappings, killings and attack on even security agencies, are intended to scare them away from coming out to exercise their franchise on election day and this must be resisted”
