The bailout fund for the eight local government areas of the state is ready for disbursement.
The Commissioner for Local Government Administration, Pastor Agatha Goma, who disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in her office in Yenagoa recently, said modalities for the disbursement are being worked out with the relevant stakeholders.
Pastor Goma emphasized that the money, released by the federal government as a loan to enable councils pay the backlog of salaries being owed their workers, is strictly for the payment of local government council workers.
She commended the local government caretaker committee chairmen for their efforts and determination at ensuring that council workers and teachers in local education authorities under their jurisdictions were paid their salaries.
The commissioner also expressed appreciation to the leadership of organized labour and indeed the entire work force for their patience and understanding.
