The Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Konwbowei Benson yesterday made a shocking revelation that gave credence to the governors drive of reducing the criminally maneuvered payroll system and the over bloated wage bill of the state’s workforce.
According to the speaker “I had a call in 2007 from the then Commissioner for Information to nominate two names of which I did, I thought the nominees were for appointments but I latter discovered that it was for an employment with backdated letters”
The speaker said this during the official launching of the ‘Operation No work No pay’ policy by the Bayelsa State Government in Government House,Yenagoa.
As a man of principle and firm character, the number three Man in the State, believed that there’s always room for sobber reflection and change for what’s good and sustainable.
He charged all in authority of power in the state and every Bayelsan to follow suit and join hands with the government to check such illegal arrangements to get rid of ghost names by reducing the man made over bloated wage bill in the state.
Saying, “change begins from the top”
